Case Search is an online tool by which you can search for Howard County Court Records.

Howard County Case Search

You need to accept the agreement before searching records. Then you get two search criteria - search by Company or Person and search by Case Number.

If you choose to search by Company or Person, enter the name in the search field and select Howard County from the drop-down list of the County. You can select the Party Type, Case Type, Court System, and the range of Filing Date if you want to narrow your search results.

If you choose to search by Case Number, input the case number in the search field and select Howard City Circuit Court or District Court from the drop-down list of the Court.

You will get detailed information about the court records.

Howard County Circuit Court

Howard County Circuit Court is a court of general jurisdictions that is a member of the Judicial Branch of government. It is required by the law to hear jury trials, family law, juvenile, major civil matters, and serious criminal cases. The appeals from the District Court of Maryland, Orphans Court, and Administrative Agencies are also heard by the Circuit Court. Both the jury and a judge alone can decide the cases in the Circuit Court.

The Office of Clerk of the Howard County Circuit Court

The Clerk of the Howard County Circuit Court is an elected state official whose duties are created and regulated by the laws of Maryland and the Rules of the Supreme Court of Maryland. The Office of Clerk of the Court has provided the citizens of Howard County with a variety of services since 1658, including filing, processing, and maintaining criminal, civil, and juvenile actions. In addition, the Clerk is also in charge of recording land deeds, plats, mortgages, and conveyances, issuing business and marriage licenses, performing marriage ceremonies, and administering oaths to county officials, notary publics, judges, and appointees commissioned by the Governor.

Howard County District Court

The District Court of Maryland was established on July 5, 1971, by an amendment to the Maryland Constitution. It is a fully state-funded court of record with statewide jurisdiction. Howard County District Court is responsible for hearing traffic infractions, landlord-tenant disputes, replevin actions, misdemeanor and some felonies, and civil cases with a maximum value of $30,000 in Howard County. The District Court has both exclusive and concurrent responsibilities with the Circuit Court. Jury trials are not conducted in District Court proceedings.
