Prince George's County Case Search

Before searching records, you need to accept the agreement on the page. Then two search criteria are available on the new page - search by Company or Person and search by Case Number.

To search by Company or Person, you need to enter the name in the search field and select Prince George’s County from the drop-down list of the County. You can also narrow your search results by selecting the Party Type, Case Type, Court System, and the range of Filing Date.

To search by Case Number, you need to input the case number and select Prince George’s County Circuit Court or District Court from the drop-down list of the Court.

Prince George's County Circuit Court

Prince George's County Circuit Court is part of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Maryland. DaNeeka Varner Cotton serves as the Administrative Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit and the Circuit Court for Prince George's County. Prince George's County Circuit Court is the trial court with general jurisdiction over jury trials in civil and criminal cases and non-jury trials in equity matters involving family law. The appeals from the District Court, orphans’ courts, and some administrative bodies are also heard by the Circuit Court. In the Circuit Court, both the jury and a judge alone can decide the cases.

The Clerk of Prince George's County Circuit Court

The Clerk of Court is an elected state official who plays an essential role in the judicial branch of government. Mahasin El Amin is the Clerk of Prince George's County Circuit Court. The responsibilities of the Clerk and his office are created by the laws of Maryland and the Rules of the Court of Appeals of Maryland. They are committed to filing, administering, and maintaining civil, criminal, and juvenile actions. In addition, they provide a variety of services such as recording land deeds, mortgages, plats, and conveyances, issuing business licenses and marriage licenses, performing civil marriage ceremonies, administering oaths to notary publics, officials, judges, and appointees appointed by the Governor, etc.

Prince George's County District Court

The District Court of Maryland was established on July 5, 1971, by an amendment to the Maryland Constitution, which is fully funded by the State and has statewide jurisdiction. The jurisdiction of the District Court includes landlord-tenant disputes, replevin claims, and motor vehicle violations. The District Court has exclusive jurisdiction in civil lawsuits with a maximum of $30,000 and in criminal cases such as misdemeanors and some felonies. It also has concurrent responsibilities with the Circuit Court in both civil and criminal cases. Jury trials are not conducted by the District Court.
